Entenmann’s Family Bakery is a family owned and
operated business for over 90 years. Richard Entenmann came to the
United States from Germany in 1916, at age 16, and avidly became
interested in the baking industry. He bought his own bakery in St.
Albans, Queens, in 1934 and was in business himself until 1963, when
he retired. During this time he taught his sons the trade and
eventually another bakery was purchased in Mineola in 1965 by his son,
Bill. In 1978 he opened a bakery in East Meadow, which, to this day,
is still in operation by the family.
Bill’s wife, Nancy, works at the bakery in sales,
along with their daughter, Donna. Another daughter, Debbie, attended
the Culinary Institute in upstate New York and graduated from the
Pastry Chef program in 1990. Her final project at the school included
the Eiffel Tower in chocolate, which was put on display. Debbie has
also won ribbons for her chocolate work at the Festival of Trees.
She now does creative cakes and specialty pastries for the bakery,
along with running the operations of the shop, with the family’s
assistance.
Entenmann’s Family Bakery is a full line bakery
with old world style products. We offer a variety of breads, fresh
butter cookies, special occasion cakes (including wedding), an array
of buns and danish, all made from scratch. Special orders such as
photo cakes and cookies are a big item.
We are a neighborhood bakery and have developed a
loyal clientele over the many years. So, come in and enjoy our
